thanks for responding Dan.  According to Partner Line and the V4R5 System
Builder on page 448 it is a direct upgrade.

This not exactly your mission, but it might help.

I recently assisted a client from V4R1 to V4R4, but my understanding was
that we could have gone to V4R5 without any step upgrades.
