  • Subject: Font and print config from AS400 to hp 4000 series laser printer

Hi,
Our purchasing department has been printing their purchase orders on
multi-part forms on an IBM line printer. We now need to print to an HP4050
tn laser printer using single sheets.
My basic problem is that I can't seem to find a decent resource for
"how-to's" on HP laser printer configuration and setup.
Currently the file description on the 400 is set to 10 characters per inch
for the purchase orders. That's how it comes out on the line printer.
Sending it to the laser printer, however, results in 12 characters per inch.
The laser printers are NOT *IPDS of course and no matter what changes you
make to the device description for the laser printer, it seems to have no
affect on the output.
We're running V4R4 O.S.. It's an NT TCP/IP network.
I'm pretty sure I'm missing some fairly simple or basic conceptual points.
It just seems like there should be SOME way to manipulate the output for HP
laserjets. Whether it be adjusted at the printer...in the printer device
description on the 400....or in the file description for the P.O.'s...
Please help

Thank you!!!
