Hi Chris,

Don't know much about the technique you're using to do this. I presume
you're talking about the WAITRCD parameter on the OVRDSPF command. The
WAITRCD parameter help text indicates that "this parameter has no effect on
an input operation directed to one device." Are you using the display file
as a multiple device file in your program?

I'm using a technique that Scott Klement (also on this list) gave me a while
ago that utilizes the INVITE & FRCDTA keywords on the display format and a
data queue in the application that uses the display file. I haven't tried
an implementation where PgmA calls PgmB, and both use the timeout function,
but I don't see why it wouldn't work. But I guess you can't see why yours
doesn't work either, eh?

If you're interested, I can email you the example, working code that Scott
gave me. Just let me know.

Subject: display timeout - please help

Hello I am trying to timeout a screen after thirty seconds. I have done it
in one program just fine, and now this program calls another prog that i
need to timeout all the screens for.

it calls a cl that overides the display files wait record timer to 30
seconds. Then this cl calls the rpg that has the display files in it, and it
wont work like it did in the first program.

This is my timeout section of code:

                  WRITESFLCTL
                  READ CLK907MM 7172
*IN71 IFEQ *ON
STATUS IFEQ 1331
                  GOTO END
                  ENDIF
                  ENDIF

Any suggestions?

I am geting to the point of severe frustration.

Thanks chris
