If you start the CAE Console session it communicates with the 400 to some extent (i.e. you can see a small number of bytes received/sent on the "modem" connection display) as a result of which the Sign On dialog (requesting a DST signon) is displayed. There is then a prolonged wait before the PC finally dies claiming it can't connect. I haven't even tried this for a few weeks so I can't recall the exact message.
