Try this: http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc821.html

You might also try searching thru the Forum on
http://www.as400.ibm.com/netdata. I saw several postings there about this
very question, maybe one of them can help you. One message in particular:
--------------
The SMTP REPLY CODE is not among those listed in RFC 821. However,
according to the RFC, 4yz is a transient negative completion reply
which indicates that the error is temporary and the action may be
requested again, and an x2z indicates the reply is referring to the
transmission channel.

The reply is returned by you SMTP server. My guess that it may be
overloaded?

Subject: SMTP error codes using net.data DTW_SENDMAIL

I have searched the on line publications high and low and IBMs web site and
can find no info. I keep getting this error message when trying to send
email from an AS400 net.data macro. The SMTP server is running fine on the
AS400 and I can send other mail just fine.

NET.DATA Error: Function
> call to DTW_SENDMAIL failed. Error Number is 7001.
> (SMTP-REPLY-CODE=425)

I can not find any info on SMT-REPLY-CODES anywhere. Anyone have any clues
as to where to find these codes?
