IBM hasn't promised that V3R2 will "always" be supported. In fact, to the
contrary, the release after V4R4 is promised to be the last release that
supports V3R2 interoperability. The following quote is from IBM V4R4
marketing materials:

"The next release after V4R4 is planned to be the last release to support
interoperability with V3R2 and the ability to upgrade directly from V3R2 in
a single step."
