if you have the sequence set to end it will always write at the end of the
tape.
this is what I do every night I run the backup excluding my open files and
then schedule a backup to do a savobj with the save active parameter set To
*lib

and don't forget to set
the end of tape option to *leave if you leave it at rewind you might want a
hour or more rewinding your tape and then searching for the end.

Sequence number . . . . . . . . *END

Here is the problem:

We have customers doing a backup nightly, but since it backups up one file in
particular (their web file) no one can access their web site during this time.

Possible solution?:

To run a backup, excluding that file each night and then run a job scheduled
entry to backup just that file since it doesn't seem possible to run 2 scheduled
backups each night.

Questions:

How would you ensure that the job scheduled entry save didn't save OVER your
nightly backup? Is there a parameter that can be set that will force the job
scheduled entry to search the tape, go to the end of the backup and then start
saving that file to tape? Is there a better way of going about this?

Thanks in advance!

Michele R
