While twinax is not exactly shaking the universe there are still situations where the best solution is twinax based emulation in a Windows based PC. The Synapse WinTwin adapter card is based around an intelligent co-processor engineered specifically for multi-tasking GUI based operating systems. The Zero Footprint - No Impact design of this card makes it easy to install and maintain because it uses no DOS conventional memory, no adapter handlers, no TSR’s, no shared RAM, no DMA channel and requires no hardware interrupts (IRQ). Because of the micro processor and the onboard 64K of RAM the card is not impacted by the processor speed or operating system of the PC (typically 300mhz-500mhz today under Win95, Win98, or WinNT) while cards of the older IBM style design have dropoff problems.
