Yes... moving dates FORWARD only leaves you open to far less potential
issues.

We just did a test using our development system.  We took the safe way
out -
full backup beforehand, only move dates FORWARD during the testing, then
scratch install/restore to return the system to its starting point and
the
current date.  We have far too many date-driven apps to risk what could
happen if turning the date backwards actually messed something up, even
on
this development box.
