There is a serial port on the back of the AS/400 for connection to the
serial port on a PC. You install Client Access or PC5250 on the PC and
define an Asynchronous connection. Then you can get a session with the
AS/400. This should be covered in the CD that comes with the AS/400.
Performance and reliability will probably be poor, so the first thing
you will want to do is get TCP/IP configured and use a TN5250 client to
access the AS/400. Also, there is a system value that lets the AS/400
IPL without a console. You'll want to enable that, too.
