Rich:
I am in the same situation. We are in the process of ordering a new 170, I
still haven't come off the dime to get it, but we have 2 AS400s, a model 400
at V3R7 and an E04 at V2R3. The E04 box is basically used only to
communicate with remote AS400s via dial up APPC. I don't have any
intentions of retiring it though after 12/31. It has tons of comm lines on
it and we dialup to lots of customers at the same time. Who cares it the
comm box thinks its 1972 all over again, we will just break our the
bellbottoms and polyester. :)

solutions and for my customers that don't have a network (about four -
still!), good ol appc passthrough is the best way to connect for on-line
support.

in the machines 13th or 14th month of service, but otherwise, no problems.
