People who haven't dug into RPGIV should take an RPG/400 program they
know and love, and do a CVTRPGSRC on it, and see what that looks like in
RPGIV, then build on their knowledge from there. Easy.

Rob,

I completely agree with you. In your opinion, how much longer does it
take to do the following in RPG IV as opposed to doing it in RPG400:
Add a
new subroutine (make a mod) and compile it. My answer is that it takes
ZERO more time. The only additional time it will take an RPG IV
programmer
is the time to run CVTRPGSRC. Even if they never ever did anything more
"advanced" in RPG IV than use long mixed-case field names they would be
ahead of the game! The only people who whine about the "learning curve"
have simply never looked at it, and aren't motivated enough to run one
stinking little command to try it out!
