I take it you know who I am talking about!

Their attitude doesn't make any sense to me.  Now that the secret is
out on how to create a CDR with SAVLIB/OBJ stuff on it, their market is
going to shrink rapidly.

The only thing they do that the others don't is create the IFS file
directly from a save file.

And is actually easy to get around that.  Just "read" the Save File as
a stream file and pump it out to the IFS.  To restore, read the stream
file and write it back to the save file.  But, you can not do the
RSTOBJ/LIB directly from the CD.  Small issue that can be handled with
a bit of code in the install.  And any ISV who is afraid of writing a
little bit of code should get out of the business!

And actually, the trick behind CDIT and others is very easy also.  Just
read the tape as a stream file, write to the IFS and you are done.

They also brag about providing LODRUN support, but LODRUN is also a no
brainier.
