One reason: other departments/acquisitions/trading partners, etc. are using 
NT, and it'd be nice if I could drive the data access from my AS/400 RPG 
program.  As far as I know, you can't use ODBC *from* an AS/400 *to* a PC, 
and I haven't figured how to get SQL to work, either.
