Thanks for all the responses.  One person mentioned that the 9348 is a 1/2"
drive normally and likely this drive, though a 8mm drive, this 3rd party
drive chooses to emulate a 9348.  This must be the case and likely the MAIN
reason why the 2 drives won't talk "downwardly".  Yes, I have tried
formatting of various flavors on the 7208 and then trying to write to it on
the 9348 but with no luck.  Yes, I can actually format and write something
on the 7208 and READ it on the 9348 ("upwardly").   It looks like I'm just
going to have to go to Plan B, which is just by luck that I know a shop here
in town that can duptap it to the tape density I need.  Thanks again for all
the suggestions.
