The problem you are having is related to changing from a 5250 terminal to a
vt100(probably) at the proxy.
We have a programmer here doing remote support and he has to go thru the
same BS to get on the 400.
I think he is using netmanage 's tn5250. I think you can a demo download
from their site.

Another thought. If your firewall does SOCKS then you could avoid the
"double telnet". All you need then is a SOCKS
"client" on your PC. There are free ones out there.
http://www.socks5.nec.com/ . Is one there are others.

Hello all.
I'm trying to figure this one out.
I'm trying to telnet to an AS/400 outside of our wan. I tried telneting to
our proxy server from our AS/400, then I telnet to the AS/400. I get a
signon screen, but with CA, the field positions seem really messed up.
So, I tried it with PowerTerm. I opened a connection to the proxy server,
telnet to the AS/400, and get a signon. When I enter name and password, I
am returned to the proxy with a message saying the connection was closed.
Any ideas? Am I going about this all wrong? Is there a IP emulator that
allows a proxy that I could use instead?
