I have 2 more cents here, for what it is worth Smalltalk is about as
OO as it gets, BUT!!!! it is NOT! crossplatform so I would say that
the fact that JAVA is OO is not the whole enchilada.

How is RPG IV/ILE supposed to help you learn OO? There is nothing OO
(Object Oriented) about RPG.

The hard part about Java is the OO. Not the syntax.

OO is very slick stuff. And I know of only 2 ways to get OO on an
AS/400. C++ or Java. And IBM will/is putting much more into the Java

side of things. And if a funky language name means true OO support on

the /400, I'm all for it!

I agree totally with Bucks well said statement.

I think that this is very well said. An aside is
that RPG IV/ILE RPG can help you learn OO while
you work, rather than have to learn OO AND a new
language AND a new environment (GUI) all at the
same time.
