first off - are your systems communicating?  when you do 'wrkcfgsts *lin' do you
see active on both of them for both the line and the controller?  if they aren't
your dead before you start.

i've done this, but it was years ago!  and my manuals are at work.

but there's a trace command that was really helpful.  trcicf or something like
that.  that may help you trace what's wrong.

also, there are return codes you can use to help determine what the actual error
is.
