Scott, 

My impressions were the same as yours.  More high level marketing than
anything you could really learn from.  

The hot buttons they were pushing were;

Get on the web or die.  (Marketing aps.  Ecommerce aps such as supply
chain).
You need high availablity.  AS/400 is the most reliable web server.
Hackers are scary people. AS/400 is the most secure web server.
AS/400 is a hi-tech state-of-the-art web server.

To anyone considering going - send your MS blinded execs.
