Hi Gary,

I have a WAN Frame Relay Network between the states and London
(128Port/64PVC) and Australia (128Port/64PVC). The carrier is MCI.

We have had problems with connectivity similiar to what you are
experiencing where the session just drops. However, that was using both
direct 802.2 and an Novell SAA Gateway. When the offices were switched to
Direct IP, the problems stopped. The 5250 emulation software we use is
Netsoft.

There has been times where conjestion on the local ring that has caused
AS/400 sessions to drop, even when they were Direct IP.

Subject: Wide area networks

Is anyone here running a Wide Area Network to Europe? Who is your
communications provider? How much bandwidth? We have just put in a
Wide Area Frame Relay network overseas and have been experiencing many
problems where our users will be on-line with their 5250 Client Access
emulations, and suddenly the terminals will go black. They lose their
session and have to click on communicaition - Connect. What would cause
these blackouts? I assume its a network issues. I am running a Wide
Area Network to all units in United States and Canada without a problem.
BTW, I am running OS/400 V4R2 and using TCP/IP to connect.
