  • Subject: backup using a media library

We are currently running a media library using BRMS on an AS/400. My
problem right now is that I can schedule a backup at anytime for any
specific library and it runs without a hitch. Though when I set it to
run a full system backup it ends with an error saying the tape it pulled
is not available at this time. Afterwards the the tape is near to
impossible to scratch and release from the drive due to the fact that it
has active data on it from the system backup that has just ended with an
error. I have read every book IBM sent with the machine and they are
near to no help whatsoever. Most everything I have learned so far has
been by trial and error and most people I speak to about it say they
learned the same way. If anyone has any information on this it would be
really appreciated. Or if anyone can recommend a book that would be
great help also.

Thanks in advance,

Chad Walsingham
