Hey everyone

News/400 has an article on how other magazines portray the AS/400. Sound
familar?
As you remember from my posts about the "64 bit" articles, etc. Go take
a look. They will/do have a forum also on the topic. I copied a snippet
for your edification if you hadn't seen it.

Marketing the AS/400

Are you frustrated by the mistakes about (and sometimes outright
misrepresentation of)
the AS/400 in the general computer industry IT press? Are you concerned
that IBM's marketing efforts may be too little, too late? Let's brainstorm
in
this special temporary forum about what we, the AS/400 users of the
world, can do to help educate the IT industry (as well as the IT writers
and editors who are filtering AS/400 information) to positively affect the
overall impression people have of the AS/400 platform

A Revealing Look at the IT Press

by Scott Steinacher

Do mainstream IT publications misrepresent the AS/400 and NT platforms?

If you’re an AS/400 professional, you’ve probably read
at least one article deriding IBM for ineffectively
marketing the AS/400. And although IBM may deserve
some derision for its efforts, I’m firmly convinced that at
least two IT publications are more responsible than Big
Blue for the AS/400’s status as a "best-kept-secret."

I recently examined more than 100 issues of three leading IT magazines to
determine whether AS/400 coverage was proportionate to the platform’s
capabilities, popularity, and success. What I found disappointed and
astounded me. As you’ll soon learn, the AS/400 is routinely ignored, and
even disparaged, by Informationweek and Infoworld magazines. By
contrast, Computerworld provides balanced coverage of the platform..
