We tried Delphi/400. The results were brilliant, unfortunately corporate
policy was Microsoft, so there went that dream...
But I can recommend this.

If you want to stick with Microsoft, The fench company that made Delphi/400
possible has some activeXs that link to the As/400 the same way.
product is SystemObjects

We use VB 4.0 connected via ESS400 with great success.  ESS is faster than
ODBC, because it uses an APPC connect.  ESS sells modules for VB, FoxPro,
C++,
Paradox, Clipper, and MS Access that I know of for sure.  Check out
www.ess400.com.
