Hello group! I have been playing with downloading data to a PC from our AS/400 (V3R7 - 510). Overall, this works very well, but I have run into a couple of quirks I would appreciate some help with. 1. When I try to use Microsoft Excel 97 to "Get external data", I select the Client Access ODBC 32 bit driver. I cannot get the data source to recognize the default libraries I choose on the "server" tab - instead, it uses my AS/400 profile's default library list. 2. When I choose an AS/400 file (table) with a date field, I get the following error: "SQL5001 - Column qualifier or table TABLENAME undefined." If I run Client Access's "Get Data from AS/400", however, the file downloads fine. 3. Occasionally, I get the following error in Excel 97: "SQL5016 - Object name TABLENAME not valid for naming option". Again, this TABLENAME downloads fine via Client Access's download tool. Further, I could not find a reference to this error message anywhere (on IBM's reference website, anyways). 4. After reading the recent postings concerning CPYSPLF, I created a 100 byte file and copied a spool file into it. When I tried to pull this into Excel 97 using "Get external data", it pulled it in in hex! The questions in the above statements are all implicit. If you have any explicit answers (or know where I can go for some), please share! Thanks!
