The fact that something was written in BASIC/400 and is being used indicates that A) the programmer knew neither RPG nor COBOL, or B) there was something about the project that was much easier to do in BASIC than any other language. Neither of these options indicates that conversion is going to be easy, and it will probably end up being a rewrite from almost scratch. On the other hand, I've flipped through the manuals a couple of times, and it looks like a pretty good implementation of BASIC, with at least functional support for the AS/400 features. Working with whatever it is as BASIC might not be that bad. Peter H.
