Jeff, Oooppss. You did explain yourself fine, I just was slightly braindead at the time -- the problem with doing this on the train. Well, now that I understand this let's see.... You say that you have 2 entities, but as I see it you have 3 entities on two mediums, the LanServer, Lantastic and the 400 as the entities and ethernet and twinax as the mediums. So lets start by getting rid of the twinax cards: I would identify the IPCS's ethernet card to the 400 as a line if you have not done so already. Bind a TCP/IP interface to the line and convert all your users to IP connections to the 400 and burn the twinax cards. Now you have 3 entities and 1 medium, an improvement. So, now why are you using Lantastic? Could it be as simple as copying any files you have on the lantastic servers to the IPCS and turning off lantastic? What am I missing? By my count, once lantastic is gone, you will have 2 entities, the 400 (5250, DB2, RPG, etc) and the Lan (file and print serving). This is the best you can do, as you cannot combine these two functions. However, all these functions are now under the hardware umbrella of the 400.
