You don't specify what communications you have configured, however as a
general rule this is correct.  In our office we have a E04 CISC at V2R3 and
a model 400 RISC (2131) at V3R7 and the communicate over SNA perfectly.
There may be an issue reguarding how far back you can save a version if you
 need to share files using SAVE/RESTORE and transmitting over SNADS.  If
you are at V3R7 you will not be able to save files using SAVLIB/SAVOBJ at
any version prior to  V3R1.
