Carl,

The ODBC driver that comes with the Win95/NT Client Access client (v3r1m2)
is 32-bit and talks over TCP/IP. It's quite good, taking advantage of SQL
packages on the AS/400, e.g., to maximize performance.

If this is all you need, then, on v3r7, it comes with the operating
system—no client license needed. If you are on v3r2, you need to pay for
one client license. After that, you can use the ODBC driver all you want.
Don't know about v4r1, but it should be a part of the OS. Don't pay for
what you're not using!
