That is true it is needed only during development. 

But, I do believe that if you buy ATDS, IBM has included the "server" stuff 
that is needed to run the STRCODE.  So if you have SEU, you most likely
have the STRCODE.  It only needs to be set up.  I believe you need a 
certain ICF file in your library list.. Don't ask me how it is set-up.  That is 
the
job of our Operations Manager and I had no part in it.

How fortunate I was that I always had that running anyway! I used Code/400
all the time so I would start it up as soon as I fired up my connections.
I guess I never thought about it being necessary for the VA RPG stuff. But
now that I think back, I do recall that I needed to pull up field lists
and stuff. 

But not for the run-time, right? That was just for the developer, right?
