Hey David,I forgot a few items I'd like to fill in:
When you are done testing all facets of a controlled WH and ready for 'go live' you'll need to re-set the current itembl on hand balance and sync to the location file SQLNTY.
You could post neg 'IAs' and reprocess positive to a default stock location, or if random locations take a physical. This can be a rather big 'go live' task and should be tested to be sure the end result does not change the overall inventory value. I had one company that decided to simply put the existing inventory into a '9999' location for start up. They cleaned it up as they went along. (I did not like this approach, but it worked for them).
Also, the location is alpha numeric and has to be 4 -6 characters in length, I'd avoid the 7th character - some limitations. I have found that 4 works well, just an opinion. You could bar - code the locations and use a wedge for TWs ( I am assuming a hands free scanner, and PMC.
The COM pick list can be printed in bar--code fashion - but cannot be scanned to do anything without some custom code, nothing in vanilla COM supports scanning the pick list. (at least not the last time I checked) just an FYI. I do like the 'discrete pick list'.
Good Luck

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Implementaton Plan to go from Uncontrolled to Controlled Warehouse

Has anyone gone from uncontrolled to controlled warehouses? If so, do you have an implementation plan? Also, in controlled warehouses, how to people manage backflushing of controlled floorstock from multiple locations? It appears to be very cumbersome.

Thanks for your help.

David
