We do not do Payroll checks but we did convert all of our AP checks to
be laser checks using Quandrants Formtastic. After a quick 1 day
training from Quadrant, I was able to convert all of our A/P checks,
invoices and purchase orders to laser printers for our 3 companies.

When looking at solutions, I found that the process was similar from
vendor to vendor. Basically it is an application that reads your
existing spoolfile and converts it to your new laser template. Our
decision to go with Quadrant was based on two primary factors. First was
the designer application that allows you to build the new template was
very easy to work with. Second, and more important for us, was the
support team at Quadrant got high marks from the people I talked with
that used them. I can also say that from the few times I have needed
support, they were excellent.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have specific questions about
this.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Mapics payroll checks on a laser printer

I have been asked to check into printing our Mapics payroll checks on a
laser printer. We currently print them on an IBM6400 printer. I would
like to know how others are handling this.
Some of the questions I have are:
What solutions are out there?
Can we just order laser checks and then route the Mapice payroll check
print file to the laser printer?
For checks, what vendor(s) are others using or recommend?
I would like to do this as painless as possible for all concerned.
Thanks,
William Moore
