John,

If you are using Sun's JRE on the client you can use Web Start to
deploy.
Here is a link:
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/JDCTechTips/2001/tt0530.html

If you want a regular installer, I would recommend Null Soft's NSIS
installer. It was originally developed for WinAmp and is now free at:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/nsis/

You can use NSIS to build a very flexible install routine. I have been

using the Alpha 7 version it on a project and it is very powerful and
easy to use.

I have written some Java Programs and want to run them on other
clients. I
used Eclipse to code and test them, and it will create a jar file for
me,
but it does not include IBM classes. What is the correct way to install
the
IBM classes from JTOPEN on the client machines? I have looked at
classes
AS400ToolboxInstaller and AS400ToolboxJarMaker, but not sure if that
is
going to help me.

Also are there installers I should be looking at, that will create
ICONS on
the desktop and add menu items on the start menu, change the classpath?
Can
I do this myself with Java? I would like the installer to work with
Linux,
Mac and Windows.

Thank You
John Ross
