The new UI layer that was written runs without a single problem on Linux !
(just take a look at Eclipse).

It is again IBM (while investing tons of dollars in Linux ?) that messed it
up with RSE and the iSeries tools... they don't run on Linux.

Actually I believe that IBM have done just this.  It is one of the reasons
why all of the additional features of WDSc etc. are not yet available on
Linux etc.  If they used swing, it would run on Linux no problem, but it
doesn't - they wrote a new layer of JNI routines to provide the UI.

Imagine how slow it might be if they were using swing!
