I assume that you are on WDSC 4.0 SP3. Have you applied SP3 fix SE08488?
EVFCSVRD.EXE is the CODE communications console program which is invoked
during communications daemon initialization.

 what is evfcsvrd.exe ?

 What is this thing?  It starts on its own and uses 95+% of the cpu and
grinds everything else to a halt.

(Windows XP Pro)

( I did get Code/400 reinstalled and working, except for this cruel joke.)
