Jon,

My hat's off to you for having the nerve to teach CODE & collect payment!
<vbg>

I hate it when someone finds the STRCODE command and takes it. *PRV really
sucks. Also sucks when someone creates a server and leaves *USRPRF as the
current library. We all have current libraries but they're not in the user
profile. It can take a long time to figure out who did it.

As long as a current library is required, QGPL should not be allowed. And
get rid of *PRV. And why should I have to figure out what my IP address is?
There's an API - why can't STRCODE determine what my IP address is?

I have a CL pgm (which I probably got most of from this list) which
retrieves the IP address of the PC, retrieves the current library, then
creates a unique server name based on the current library. This way the
server always has the correct IP, a unique server name, correct port,
correct connection type. (Why can't all of this be the default?) This only
gets screwed up when a user takes the STRCODE command by itself and leaves
all of the default *PRV values.

I don't have anything to keep a user from setting up a server in the comm
console with no current library. And without one, screwy things do happen.
*USRPRF shouldn't be allowed unless the user profile is validated to see if
there is one.

In spite of all these problems, users still would rather use CODE than SEU.
Really says something about GUI, doesn't it?

Phil
