I have never been able to get 'Load' to work, but 'Attach' almost always
works. The only time I have had trouble with the debugger is when I try to
use it over my VPN connection from home...

You should be able to use Attach in almost any scenario:
1) Open a CA session, set your libl, and get ready to call the problem
program from the command line (or the program that will ultimately call your
program)
2) Open D.Debugger in Attach mode, and find your job in the job list. Type
/userid/ in the Job Name box to limit the list to your Jobs.
3) Type your program name in the program name box
4) If it is an update program, click on debugger settings, and check 'Update
Production Files'
5) Click Attach
6) After you get a popup telling you to start your program, go back to the
CA session and make your CALL.
7) Click the button on the popup from #6 and the debugger should open up
with your program...

Let me know if this helps,
David

David, thanks for your quick reply.

I am trying to "load" rather than attach since the program produces
incorrect output rather than hang.

I installed it with WDT.

Bob

PS-I just installed the Win 200 to 2000 upgrade <grin> and it still behaves
the same.

I do not think the Distributed Debugger supports Windows200, may be you
should upgrade to Windows 2000?

Seriously though, a few questions:
1) How did you install it? As part of VisualAge for Java or as part of the
main WDT Install?
2) Are you trying to 'Load' a program, or 'Attach' to one?
3) Assuming Attach, can you find your job in the Job List?

David

I have just begun playing with the debugger. I have installed SP4 on my
Windows 200 PC. When I start the debugger, it never gets beyond the
"Starting..." progress bar. Nothing happens.

Am I missing something here?

Bob
