I also tried the Open IFS file button. I get the "Unable to connect to
AS400" message also.

I tried to get sneaky and open it as normal using <local>
\\qgdisys\rob\filename.txt
I have a share set up via NetServer named ROB.
No such luck.
Then I tried
<local>//qgdisys/rob/filename.txt
And Code/400 abended.

I restarted Code and tried
<local>, expanded that, select i:, expanded that, selected directory,
expanded that. Other subdirectories would show, but not files.

summary:
1) What good is Open IFS file?
2) Why the abend?
3) Why doesn't it show the files?

Rob,

Not while it's on the IFS; there's no mapped drive.
Is that what I need? The option 'Open IFS file'
implied to me that it was a way to get around having a
mapped drive otherwise I could open it with regular
Open, and chose <LOCAL> (assuming of course that I had
the filter set up.)

Did I make an incorrect assumption?

Phil
