Just looking at it, it looks pretty confusing. If I wanted a client-server
application I would definitely just use PowerBuilder. For me, it'd be a lot
quicker and easier. I guess it was kinda' deceiving, because I thought VA
RPG would be an iSeries GUI development tool, but I imagine you'd probably
require an ODBC connection or something like that to the 400. Of course,
I've run into some of the issues you've mentioned in every GUI development
I've ever worked on. It's even tougher if you're an old IBMer who has been
doing green-screen all his life! ha ha. Thanks for the input, Buck. Have a
good day!

Chris

Chris, in addition to the very fine introduction by Rick and Booth, I'd like
to add only two things:
VARPG is a PC programming language. It doesn't require an iSeries at all,
any more than Visual Basic or Java. However, you'll probably connect to an
iSeries to talk to your databases.
I personally found that the worst part of VARPG was learning about the
Windows interface. By that, I mean the Windows standards like tab order,
accelerator keys, menus, adapting to various video resolutions, etc. The
actual programming was downright easy compared to that.
