My assumption is it's saved somewhere in the "long name" area. But there's
a lot of code in CODE/400...that's why CODE is uppercased, and who knows
where this stuff is stored. It probably should be CODE/400...

I had a nasty experience with Designer myself; fortunately I recovered
enough from a backup file to end up with (only) 2nd degree burns.

I'm not ready to tackle Code Designer again quite yet. It doesn't appear to
handle 132-column screens with elegance, and it looks pretty mouse-oriented.
I'm extremely disappointed that IBM didn't make the slightest effort to mode
SDA into the V4 environment: no date/time data types, incomplete support for
DDS windows, errors on ENTFLDATR, etc. CODE/400 is a big step up (when it
doesn't stumble) from SEU and PDM, but I guess I'm going to wait on Designer
until you give it your blessing.

Those arrows sticking out of your back are very fashionable...:) We
appreciate your leadership!

Regards,
Reeve

Reeve,

It does seem to crash more completely, and perhaps less frequently, than
before. But I still have to do the codeexit.exe/cm exit and kill the evf*
jobs in task manager. I never bother going in the communications daemon.

Code designer works longer before crashing. But it still crashes. Crashing
I can live with, but corrupting the source file I can't. Yesterday it
corrupted about about a dozen referenced fields which I had to rekey (on a
printer file). What code designer is doing is, when I click the save
button, it does the dds check. Sometimes it never starts the count down.
I've noticed that if I select File|Save I don't get that problem. I wish it
didn't do a dds check. I'm saving it to my PC. I just want to save it so
that when it crashes I haven't lost (much) work. I've only been using V5R1
SP3 for about a week.

You know when you get from host (in CPO), the file has properties associated
with it like the library/file(member) where it was downloaded from? Where
is that information stored? Do you know?

Phil
