The first & most obvious difference is where you can buy it & get support.
Only Versions 405 CD and V6 are guaranteed by SSA to be Y2K compliant & of 
course you need a bunch of upgrades to get there.
SSA will be dropping support for 405 CD in another year.
V8 is due out real soon.

Thus there is a question of where is it legal to BUY 5.1
If you were considering an upgrade, you CAN get support for a version that 
SSA no longer honors, but not from SSAX GT.

V6 is very different from V4 where we are.
