Hi Bob. Long time, no see.

I would not disagree with you that 6.X represents increased functionality.

My comments regarding the primary reason for considering upgrades come
directly from customers. Many are totally satisfied with their 4.05CD
system as it supports their ERP functions quite well. Many have invested a
significant amount of time in customizing it to specifically meet their
needs. These are the people I refer to when I say that the primary reason
for considering upgrading is support.

I would respectfully disagree with Mike.

He cites the primary reason for migrating to 6.X is for support, but I
think the
primary reason for migrating to 6.X is for additional business
functionality
available in 6.X to support your business requirements that version 4.05 CD
does
not have. I'm sure that 6.X AS/SET poses some IT support challenges, but
I
think the additional functionality available in 6.X makes it worth the
move.

For any users of 4.005 CD that would like an overview of the major changes,
I
can send you a powerpoint presentation that highlights the differences.

BPCS 4.05CD is an extremely stable. We support numerous clients on 4.05CD
and can attest that it has fewer issues than other BPCS versions. The
primary reason for migrating to 6.X would be for support, however there are
excellent support alternatives.

We are also on BPCS CD (REL02). It is a very stable version and satisfies
our requirements.

All the date fields are correct and use the full 8 character format so you
should have no problems with interfaces etc.

There are also 3rd Party add-on products readily available on the market
which interface with BPCS CD. (Electronic Banking, Web Interface etc.)

BPCS CD is only being supported by SSA up to 30/06/2002 which may be of
concern. However BMRs are still being issued and there should be little or
no open BMRs by then.

BPCS CD was released as an interim solution pending migrating to V6 or
whatever.
There appears to be lots of BPCS CD installations out there and I would
also
be very interested in hearing comments from other BPCS CD customers
regarding their upgrade plans for the future.

I understand also that SSA GT will be making available conversion programs
to go directly from BPCS CD to V6.1. Up to now it would have been necessary
to go from BPCS CD back to V4.3 and then from there to V6.1

However a possible area of concern for us would be if we moved to BPCS CDE
(Euro compliant version). There have been very few BMRs completed for CDE.

     Hello,

We have BPCS 4.05 CD version. In our group we have 8 companies and
5 companies are using BPCS now. We have financial , manufacturing and
distribution modules. Our plan is to implement in remaining three companies
also by the middle of the next year.

We would like to have your advise on 4.05 CD from you is ,

      1) will 4.05 CD work 3 years more without any problem?
      2) will there be any date related problem or any other type
problem?

Do you anticipate any kind of problems with 4.05 CD.

Plan for New BPCS version :

We do not have plan to switch to new BPCS version now as we have
just implemented in few of our companies. Once our all 8 companies gets
stabilized on version 4.05 CD, then we will plan to switch to new version
of
BPCS.

Please guide us and give your valuable advise.

     Thanks in advance.
