Mark,

The XWindows version of DBCockpit offered the same data as the onstat
commands but with better drill down capability. There are 3rd party tools
that intercept and monitor your SQL calls, analyze them, then make
recommendations, though I can't recall their names. Perhaps your Informix
dealer can help.

Geo.

. And if you are on Unix / Informix ?
.
. Has anyone got any better ideas than mine :-
.
. 1. Find a slow job (should not be to hard)
. 2. Sit and monitor via onstat -g sql ???
. 3. If one statement hangs around check it via Query Tools in
. onperf. / set
. explain on
. 4. Add any indexes you feel are missing and try again.
.
. There has to be a better way !!!

. Use the Database Monitor to monitor BPCS jobs then use Query to select
. records in the resulting file (QAPMDBMON if you do it via Performance
. Tools) where QQIDXA = 'Y' and create the indexes advised with the key
. fields advised.
