I'll just chime in and agree with Jay Vaughn, that you need to change the
RPG CGI program as opposed to thinking that the HTTP configuration
declarations might be used to generate your JSON output.

Yes of course -the normal CMS approval/promote request.

there is not a way to make your json field changes in the http config
file.
Only in the rpg pgm itself and then re-promote it.

Regarding the promotion of RPG program changes, the process will take
some
time. It's not due to the RPG object itself, but because the process we
follow involves approvals and coordination across multiple teams.
Additionally, given the holiday season, many team members are on
vacation.

Tim,

Is what you are suggesting, by modifying the swagger definition
within
IWS
really going to change the rpg program code as well?
From my experience developing webservices with IWS, it would not.

thanks

Greetings, If you are using IWS.. you should also be able to update
the
swagger doc that IWS creates…just change the values there.

Thanks Tim

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: [WEB400] Reg: JSON Field Name modification
in
HTTPD Configuration File
that is the only way Suren,

But why does it take a lot of time to promote the changed object to
production?
Is it due to the deployment dependencies of IWS? If so I
completely
understand - that is one of the biggest pains when utilizing IWS.
I always discourage IWS and suggest the client uses a solution that
involves a little customized CGI programming directly interfacing
the
Apache server.

Hi All,

I use an HTTP Server on IBMi with a CGI call method to handle
my
web
services. Typically, the JSON response data is generated in
an
RPG
program
and uploaded to the Standard Output location. The CGI method
then
retrieves
this JSON data from Standard Output and sends it as a
response
to
the
external client.

Currently, I have a requirement to modify the field names in
the
JSON
response. For example:
Original data:
{
"firstName": "John",
"lastName": "Doe"
}

Modified Data:
{
"customerFirstName": "John",
"customerCLastName": "Doe"
}

The goal is to change the field name "firstName" to
"customerFirstName"
and
"lastName" to "customerLastName".

Is there a way to achieve this by adding some configuration
to
the
HTTPD
file, or is modifying the RPG code the only viable solution?

I’d greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions on this.
Regards,
Suren
