I believe you are administering the Apache server(s) with port :2001?
And further, that port :80 (the default) is your normal landing page for
www.xyz.com?
If so perhaps this scenario will get you home:
* Create a new generic landing page and a new landing page server for
port :80.
* Change the www. server to another port.
* Establish the new server abc.xyz.com at a new port.
* On your landing page server setup redirect www.xyz.com and
abc.xyz.com to their new port assignments.
With that scenario I believe when users enter they will get:
xyz.com = generic landing page (a model for you to consider would be the
Zend landing page at port :2004)
abc.xyz.com = abc.xyz.com
www.xyz.com = www.xyz.com
