Nadir,

That's what I was thinking ...

    SAV    ... SAVACT(*YES) ...

Possibly combined with:  SAVACTOPT(*ALWCKPWRT)

and arrange to have the IWS product set that attribute for those "log" files, e.g,:

    CHGATR OBJ('/blah/blan/blah/log.file') ATR(*ALWCKPWRT) VALUE(*YES)

The server needs to be in a stopped state before the IWS save server
command is allowed to run (the command will return an error if it is not
inactive).  I assume the server is stopped?

The IWS command uses SAVACT(*NO) - is that the cause?

  Ric, Nadir, et al,

It should be possible to shut down or "end" the instance before
backing it up.  Or, perhaps use the SAV option:

Save active option . . . . . . . SAVACTOPT    > *ALWCKPWRT

and set the attribute on those "log" files.  Or simply *OMIT those
"log" files from the save ... if they are just "log" files, why
would you want to copy them to a new instance? It will create its
own new log files once started.

(Why is this not the default behavior of the IBM provided
"procedures" for backing up an IWS instance?)

Issue the failed CL command from CL command line and see what pops
up.  It did save most of the services, but something was not
(probably nothing to do with the services).
