You cannot generate XML or JSON yourself. It is IWS that generates the
JSON/XML response. So in your case the data is assumed to be just that,
data, not a JSON response. And in JSON, you have to escape characters
such as double quotes, etc.

If you simple create an output structure with the fields you want
returned, then you do not need to worry about the JSON in your RPG
program.


So make DATAOUT a structure with the fields you want to return, for
example (incomplete):

Dcl-Ds DATAOUTDS qualified template;

headquarterNumber VARCHAR(10);
headquarterName VARCHAR(20)
headquarterAddressLine1 VARCHAR(30);
.
.
.
End-Ds;

dcl-Pi main ;
p Char(1000);
dataout likeds(DATAOUTDS );
End-Pi;


and work with the variables. Otherwise, no use really using IWS if you
are generating JSON response. You may as well use HTTP server CGI
support.

I have set headers as application json as well. It doenst resolve the
