Thanks Jon - that will be perfect.

I did not notice immediately after installing the plug in that when you
right click the php file I have a new edit option Open with PHP Editor.

No need for the project as you suggested.

Awesome

I don't bother with a PHP project normally for this kind of stuff. I just
work directly against the IFS where all my PHP source is. So I just use
the "IFS Files" part of the RSE connection's tree. It is at the bottom of
the list after Jobs. I then set up folder filters for specific
requirements.

Thank you for the update - Success I have the plugin installed.

It was interesting to see how many plugins were displayed when searching

for the PHP option - Some late night reading may be in store.

Ok so now I can select the PHP perspective.

I created a new project.

If I select the i Projects perspective I have the Remote System Explorer

to navigate to my source but in PHP I can't seem to google any results
of
how to use RSE in this perspective.

I did find information on the Remote Reconciler which will push changes
on
save to the IFS but that suggests my source is local and as I make
changes
the changed source is pushed to the IFS.

So my first question is how to I work with existing folders/source in
the
IFS ?

We have a directory structure for development and production on the IFS

Dev = \\<server>\root\www\zendsvr\htdocs\Dev\<project>
Live = \\<server>\root\www\zendsvr\htdocs\<project>

And that leads me to ask where do you generally keep the development
source - IFS or elsewhere ?

The PHP projects are quite small and at this stage we have no CMS in
place
but I am hoping to do something about that - I have read a lot from this

group on different open source options just finding the time to test and

implement. Maybe I will get to talk to some people in May.

Thank you for your assistance

It is not an installation manager repository, but an eclipse update
site.

1. Within RDi (not Installation Manager) navigate to Help -> Install New

Software...
2. Then click the Add button and add the repository there.

I tried adding this location to installation manager but it fails to
find
the site

http://download.eclipse.org/releases/luna/ and click OK.

I tried searching for an updated link without any success

Thank you for your reply.

Don:

RDi was built on top of Eclipse. You need to look for PHP development
tools (plug-ins) for Eclipse.

Try doing a google search for "php plug-in for rdi eclipse" (without
quotes).

I am trying to use Rdi to edit PHP source.

My first problem is if I drill down on the IFS and double click a
.php
file it opens with Adobe Dream Weaver - As this is the program
default for
the name .php

I can change the default program but what do I set it to ? Or if I
add a
new parser option in Rdi Windows ==> Preferences for document type
PHP
what would I set the document parser to ?

I can of course right click on the file and select text editor.

If I was to create a new project specific for the PHP project what
project
type would you suggest I select and any other setup options that may
be
beneficial to working with PHP ?

Thank you for any suggestions / responses.
