Hi Brad,

Choice for XML or JSON is not yet determined and both options are open for
the project.
I'm looking for guides how to create such a response.

Are you going to be using XML or JSON? Both have ways to send binary data.

With either , I've seen most shops will convert the binary data to Base64
and include that in a JSON/XML object.

Hi list,

We are exploring the possibilities for serving a SOAP or REST webservice
server on our i. (we are at 7.3 TR1)
Nadir Amra wrote a bundle of nice articles on that starting at
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/ibmi/library/i-
rest-web-services-server1.
Very helpful!

What we can't figure out is how we could return a pdf or other binary
document within the response to the consumer.
Can anyone point me to articles or documentation on this subject?

Many thanks,
-Arco
