I don't think I'm using the original. I do know about the latest version and may bring it in. There are name conflicts with some procedures in CGIDEV2 and some I have created myself, so it's slightly complicated.

But I still need to know what collateral objects are needed minimally, to prevent messages that they are not found, which I've seen already.

I know the service program is ALL that is needed to run things, but I don't want non-error errors popping up in job logs and causing concerns for our customers.

I'll definitely hit the easy400 forum - was just hoping that this forum had members with extensive experience. So far not quite so good, eh?

Thanks
Vern

I am sure people on here use it (I do for example) - but I would expect you to get the best response from the place CGIDEV2 originates, or even email Giovanni directly.

....or are you using the outdated IBM version of CGIDEV2?

So no one here uses it? It's for the web - this group is about the web - where's the problem?

I went to the place I know best first - did a search at easy400 and didn't find much easily.

Shouldn't this be asked on the easy400.net forum/mailing list?

Subject: [WEB400] Bundling CGIDEV2 - how much should be brought along?

I'm converting one of our apps to use CGIDEV2 - a dream to use, by the way. I love externalizing the HTML, just like DSPF DDS.

I DO preach to the choir, don't I?

There are some things that seem to be expected. I've dug about a bit, but there doesn't seem to be much clear documentation about bundling this service program and its attendant objects, like the CGIDEBUG file and data area - whose absence is tolerated, but who wants to clutter up the job log with those extra messages?

I see references to a data area for automatically setting the job to its default CCSID, under certain conditions. Again, is it needed?

The command to build the thing into a different library - well, the result seems to be everything - tutorials, all that. Which we do not want to include in the product distribution.

Thanks for any help!
