I have never had any problem with compiling C source on an IBMi - except when I mistakenly created by source file with a record length of 92 instead of 120, which resulted in several lines of code being truncated when I copied it over from one location to another using FTP. Needless to say, that caused a whole host of bizarre compilation problems until the penny dropped.

Subject: [WEB400] Compiling C programs

Does anyone have any experience compiling C programs on the i? We've gotten some C source files from a 3rd party that are in use elsewhere but will not create a C module using the CRTCMOD command. There are several syntax errors in the source that don't look like errors. Examples are:

CZM0046 Syntax error.

This is on a line with a closing curly bracket with a comment to the right.

CZM0342 "/*" detected in comment.

This is in a comment line that looks fine.

Has anyone had problems compiling C source files on the i and gotten past it? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Todd Allen
